Mark your calendars for February 5, 2025, as midwives, their clients (and their adorable little ones!) gather in Austin for a powerful Lobby & Advocacy Day at the Texas Capitol. Hosted by the Association of Texas Midwives, this event is a chance to connect with Capitol staffers and share why midwifery matters in Texas—and why it’s crucial to keep it accessible and protected by supportive legislation.
The day will feature two engaging parts:
First, an “open house” at a cozy coffee shop just a block from the Capitol, where we’ll share treats and have informal chats with staffers.
Then, for those interested in more outreach, we’ll head into the Capitol with goodies and informative materials to bring our message directly to various offices and make our presence known!
Texas has long been a friendly state for midwifery, thanks to the hard work of dedicated lobbyists, ATM members, and laws that allow midwifery to thrive. This event is a wonderful opportunity to continue this legacy, ensuring midwifery remains accessible and celebrated.
